(jul. 1879, Varsovia, Polonia–31 ene. 1974, Los Ángeles, Cal., EE.UU.).

Productor de cine estadounidense. A la edad de 13 años viajó sin familia desde Polonia hasta Nueva York. Ahí trabajó y llegó a ser vendedor en una fábrica de guantes. En 1913 formó una compañía cinematográfica con su cuñado, Jesse L. Lasky (1880–1958) y Cecil B. DeMille, y en 1917 renunció. Más tarde junto con Edgar Selwyn estableció la Goldwyn Pictures Corp. que en 1924, por medio de una fusión, se convirtió en la MGM, tiempo en que él ya se había establecido como productor independiente. Contrató a los más talentosos guionistas, directores y actores con el fin de producir películas de primer nivel, como Cumbres borrascosas (1939), La loba (1941), Los mejores años de nuestra vida (1946), Ellos y ellas (1955) y Porgy y Bess (1959).
